We set out to mitigate a deepening issue within the blockchain ecosystem: to allow financial empowerment of underprivileged communities in a manner that still provides some real earning opportunity to crypto users. DeFi platforms mainly focus on profits and tend to relate those profits rarely to impacts on the globe.
EmpowerCoin wanted a platform for disbursing microloans for financial assistance to developing regions without confusing the user experience. EmpowerCoin wanted to coordinate passive DeFi mechanics (such as staking, lending, and referrals) with socially responsible causes, enabling the user to grow their crypto portfolio while simultaneously funding real-world causes directly.
With that vision, we wanted to build a DeFi transaction platform that initially helps lives through microfinance. EmpowerCoin thus strives to bridge a profit with purpose by making lending and borrowing easy, transparent, and rewarding to the community. The challenge was to build an interface that would present a blockchain-powered financial product intuitively along with fee-sharing, smart contracts, and a lifetime referral mechanism, without losing the ethical reinvestment in developing economies.
We devised an effortless DeFi experience orientated around meaningful financial action, and EmpowerCoin’s platform allows users to engage in lending, with a portion of these activities microfunding small enterprises.

The final product aligned profit with purpose, changing the manner in which the users interacted with the blockchain – for instance, converting everyday financial acts into instruments for global empowerment.
